How can average or ugly people compete in online dating when all that matters is their profile photo?

Becuause we live in a superficial world and online dating just magnifinies it. If you don’t have a picutre you wont get looked at and even if you do have one and doesnt meek society’s standards of beauty you still wouldn’t get the time of day. Its sad but it’s the world we are living in.

Because the apps put the photo as the first qualification, the photo acts like a “gatekeeper”. I just got onto some apps, and am stunned that the profiles just don’t seem to matter anymore, on some apps. The ones where people write long answers on their profiles are more interesting, and I’ve found a bunch of interesting people who I don’t find physically stunning, or even “not my type at all”, and I really want to meet up with them and have a conversation.

Anyone here who considers themselves “average looking” should practice something called gratitude for their averagely easy lives. Theres people that shouldnt even be on this website based on their beautiful profile pictures. Either theyre using another persons pic, or they truly are too genetically blessed to be here.

I feel like the world we live in is so superficial to the point of rediculousness. Its starting to remind me of that old movie idiocracy which is sad. Im trying my best and i hope i can find a cool person but I just dont know anymore. It really does feel like the world is filled with plastic people with teflon dreams. Depressing.
